Hey Dean — that’s not a bad suggestion! But my hope is that structuring it as a $10 one-time membership, instead of something like a recurring monthly fee, will help reduce that barrier to entry and lead to more folks more willing to take that risk.

I also think that, to some extent, you have to give value to get value from communities like these, so hopefully an initial investment will lead to a more vibrant community — whereas joining something for free might lead to more passive engagement? That’s my theory, anyways. We’ll see. Maybe we’ll try out your idea at some point, you might be on to something!
